This three story office building with retail space at the street level was constructed in the historic “U” Street Corridor, one block away from the Lincoln Theater and the famous Ben’s Chili Bowl. This location led to certain challenges regarding the historic intent of the design and considerable construction obstacles, including significant underpinning on the adjacent 8-story condominium, sheeting and shoring at the street elevation, and dealing with an underground stream/flume that ran through the excavation.
